It has been a crazy day. So much stuff happened. First we had a blast and we went to this really cool Angry Birds-themed park. Angry Birds was invented in Finland. While we were there we played tag for a long time, and then we went and played basketball. Sari and I against Aatu, Venla and Jarno. After that we came home and made a lunch of salmon and potatoes. Right after lunch, just as Jarno was leaving to take Aatu to his hockey practice, they got a call that Jarno’s father had died. I felt so helpless, I didn't know how to help them. The kids were all so upset and they cried for a long time. I tried to help, and I ended up holding Aada for a while as she cried. Jarno left to go stay with his brother for the night. Jarno has no parents left now, he was devastated when he left. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and trying to help the kids understand what happened. We played a board game. Aatu cried for a lot longer than Venla or Aada. We ate a lot of ice cream and chocolate and they watched a movie while I studied Finnish. It has been a long afternoon. And I think sleep will do everyone some good.
