I'm Back BABAYYYY

Currently I am sitting in an airport in Boston, Massachusetts. My two week long hiatus from travel and adventure is over. I woke up at 2:30 this morning and got on a plane. My final destination is Helsinki, but in 3 days I'm traveling to France. I'm a little sleepy, but I'm so excited to return. The last two weeks has been a roller coaster of emotions. I was so happy to be back and see everyone, but also so sad that the exchange year part of my life is over. It will stay with me forever, but I know that it will never be the same as it was. These two weeks have been fun and hard. Getting used to being back in the United States has been an interesting journey. I forgot what it was like to have everyone around me always know how to speak English. Not to mention have strangers make small talk with you. My first hour back in the United States I had an older couple start speaking to me in an elevator. That would NEVER happen in Finland. I keep finding myself forgetting that I don't need to always be aware of my english. In Finland I was always constantly aware that I was speaking a strange language, and wherever I went people would watch me with side glances over their shoulders. Here, I will start to lower my voice before realizing that the person next to me is speaking the same language. Or I will start to rehearse what I am going to say in Finnish before remembering that no one in the USA speaks Finnish. It is a strange feeling
