This morning I woke up early to go to my first AFS orientation here in Finland!! I got picked up by another host family that lives in the area and we were off! At the camp we ate a lot of food, talked a ton about our experiences so far and what is going to happen in the future, how we are going to deal with certain things, etc. We also played a lot of big group games and did some stuff to wake us up and get us excited. I was in Esmila’s group, she a 17 year old Finnish AFS volunteer. In our group there was Franz- a German exchange student, Sophia- an Italian exchange student, Masayuki- a Japanese exchange student and a couple others too.. We went to a traditional wood-burning sauna and once we were hot enough we went and jumped in the freezing ocean. They say that were are going to do it when it is winter too when there is ice and snow and I can’t wait. One more day to go!
