So, I have been thinking a lot more on the Finnish school system. They are known to the world as having the best school system. They are extremely different, for starters, and structured a lot more like college than traditional high schools in the US. While I struggle to learn in these classes, due partly to the language barrier and partly due to lack of motivation that I have allowed myself, Finnish students are learning a lot. This confuses me, because in my classes, they never seem to be doing any classwork, and they don't seem to do any homework either. The school that I am attending is not the greatest ranked school. Actually, it is one of the worst ranked high schools in Finland. Yet, despite all this lack of studying that I see them doing, they are extremely smart. I tried taking one of their standardized English tests and I found out that the multiple choice was just as hard as the AP standardized test that I took in the US. Honestly, I don't understand it. They must do a heck of a lot of studying at home, but I suppose they have the time for it because there are no clubs at the schools, so most of them have few to no hobbies.
