Exchange Students

After school today I went straight to Helsinki to meet with an AFS volunteer named Sofia. We have been wanting to meet for a while. She was an exchange student in the US last year. It was great to talk to her, even if it was only for a short amount of time because I had to meet Jarno and the kids and catch a train. It is nice sometimes to talk to people who have gone through the same thing you are going through. Sometimes I worry that I am being so upbeat on this blog that people will think that being an exchange student is all fun and games. I shouldn't sugar coat anything, I am having bad days, and I am having rough periods. Being an exchange student is amazing, and eye opening, but it can be incredibly hard too.
