I had my second presentation today on the USA. Several people have asked me to come in and speak to their classes about myself and the differences between the US and Finland. Today I went to Nöykkiö school, which is about a 30 minute bus ride from our house. It was a lot of fun, and I talked for about an hour and a half. It is cool to see how interested the kids are. Teachers tell me they never listen during class, but while I am talking they are active and engaged. Maybe it is because I am nearer to their age, to maybe it is because I am a foreigner, or maybe kids just like guest speakers. Either way, I have a lot of fun talking to them. Though, afterwards, I am always utterly exhausted. This has made me realize that I actually really enjoy public speaking when it is something that I care a lot about and know a lot about, which is an interesting thing to learn about myself. I also enjoy it because I feel like I am representing my country in a positive way, which is good since the US has gotten such a bad rap lately.
